Shannon Fiedler Fairfax Concert reviews
Jarek and Darek steal the show.
We found the Shannon Fiedler Orchestra's holiday music inspiring and delightful, enjoying the entire performance. The entire experience was enhanced and enlivened when the music supported one of the Cirque performers. The highlight of the evening for me were the Strongmen (Jarek and Darek) doing elegant and smooth handstand moves with and upon each other to Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in d minor": the perfect combination of artistry from all performers on stage combined with acts of endurance and strength from the Strongmen.
Especially for viewing the Cirque acts from far enough away to appreciate them and hearing the full orchestral sound, our seats in the Mezzanine were fine. Perhaps due to the fact that one is so far from the action, there seems to be a culture of rudeness in the mezzanine. Tromping over us on the way to their seats, many folks were very late, then talking with each other for most of the evening. We were disturbed and occasionally distracted, but we were not impeded from enjoying the event.
